Jodi Ellen Malpas, the author of ‘This Man’, was kind enough to give us an interview!!! EXCITING!!  She is so funny and honest while being so open.   Q&A below…
1. Did you always know you wanted to be a romance novel writer?
No. I wanted to be a nurse, which is ridiculous because I pass out at the sight of blood! It was only about three years ago when I sat down and started making my lists (The A & X list. I’ll explain soon). I wanted to write a novel full of emotion – every emotion. This Man is quite an emotional roller coaster, but that was on my ’A list’ so I’m happy I’ve achieved one of my objectives and messages from readers seem to confirm this. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not at all happy with Jesse’s behaviour, most of the time, in fact, but he needed to be a bit of a lucky bag of a man – a man who women adore but also frustrate. He’s an enigma.
And the cliff hanger? Horrible, I know, but it sets the pace perfectly for Beneath This Man. I’ve received hate mail over that cliff hanger!
2. The ending to ‘This Man’ left your reader wanting so much more, did you always intend for this book to be a trilogy?
Absolutely not, but I got half way through This Man and quickly realised that I was never going to fit it all in, so Beneath This Man began and after careful consideration, I decided that Jesse and Ava needed a third book. As I said, I had two lists when I started the This Man project. My ‘A list’ (Achievement list) and my ‘X list’ (Avoid list). An item on my ‘A list’ was to achieve a beefy novel, something for women to really get their teeth into. I wanted room to flesh out the characters so the reader could connect with them, but a late addition to my ‘X list’ was the important item of not ‘beefing up’ the read just to make it a Trilogy. Jesse and Ava needed this time, though. They deserve it and so does the reader. I hope my readers feel the same way :-)
 3. Do you read romance novels? If so, what are a couple of your favorite romance novels?
I’ve not read much because I have been so consumed with This Man, and I’ve really missed it. I recently read Alice Clayton’s Wallbanger. Brilliant, and just what I needed after a stressful week. I’m a huge fan of JR Ward and the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series (Can’t wait for Lover at Last!) Samantha Towle’s excellent, and then I’ve read most of Dan Brown’s, so my reading taste is really quite eclectic. My TBR list is way out of control at the moment.
4. Matt seems to add fuel to the fire in ‘This Man’, will Matt be making another appearance in ‘Beneath This Man’?
(I’m laughing) I’m not saying a word about Beneath This Man! *wink wink*  But I will say that I hate him.
5. Besides writing romance novels, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I have a husband and two boys’, but when I’m not being a wife and a mother, I’m mostly writing. I have an army of girlfriends, who I’ve neglected lately, so I’m going for a curry with them tomorrow night. I hate curry. I keep telling them, but I’m obviously being ignored! I used to run, but things got serious with This Man, so I stopped. I was losing concentration, which is dangerous when you’re street running!
So, bottom line, in my spare time I write.
